About Alan Stonebridge

I’m the editor of MacFormat, the UK’s best-selling magazine for Apple fans, which is available digitally around the world through the App Store and Zinio.

I was previously editor of Mac|Life, MacFormat’s sister title for the US and Canada, and staff writer on the venerable MacUser (which was discontinued in 2015, sadly).

I researched and wrote more than 100 tips for this feature, which appeared in MacFormat and Mac|Life magazines, and on TechRadar.

My work has been published by other technology and entertainment brands, including TechRadarDen of Geek, The Register and T3, and in numerous longer print projects, such as The Independent Guide to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus (as senior writer) and The Ultimate iPad Air 2 Handbook (as editor).

Prior to my writing career, I developed front ends for optical discs that were a regular, cover-mounted feature on UK magazines.

My experience developing digital products led to me being brought on board Tap! The iPhone and iPad magazine as freelance digital production editor, building and testing its pioneering digital edition. To bring pages to life, I edited short videos of games – more than 500 in total – and tutorials (with narration) to help readers learn to use apps in a way that a paper edition simply can’t.

I’m under contract with Future Publishing at present, though open to new opportunities. Contact me.
