I’m the editor of MacFormat, the UK’s best-selling magazine for all things related to Apple – it’s also available around the world through the App Store. I was previously editor of Mac|Life, MacFormat’s sister title for the US market. I’ve worked for various Apple publications and technology magazines for more than a decade.
Previously, I was Production Editor on MacFormat; Freelance Digital Production Editor on Tap! – more on that below – and Staff Writer and later a regular freelance contributor to the illustrious MacUser.
I’ve contributed to many well-known online brands too, including TechRadar, Den of Geek, The Register and Macworld, and numerous long-form ‘bookazine’ print projects, including as senior writer on The Independent Guide to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and editor on The Ultimate iPad Air 2 Handbook.
My experience with building and testing digital products led to me being headhunted for full-time freelance production work on the digital edition of Tap! The iPhone and iPad magazine, from issue 9 (its first in this form) until publication ceased.
Prior to my writing career, I developed front-end apps for covermounted discs given away with Dennis Publishing’s technology magazines, using Director and its Lingo language, and building user interface components using Flash and ActionScript. I also implemented a semi-automated workflow that reduced testing time by as much as 70 per cent for each disc without affecting quality control.
Right now I’m under contract with Future plc, but I’m open to discussion about writing work that doesn’t represent a conflict of interest with my employer’s brands. Contact me.
